Time for Eastbourne Town Hall
The work will encompass repairs to the Portland stone and brickwork that characterises the tower. It also spans the repair and renewal of areas of slate roofing, windows, cast iron pipework and guttering, along with the glass that protects the clock face.
As a Grade II listed building, Eastbourne Town Hall is subject to regulations surrounding repairs and renovations to ensure that buildings of historical significance are preserved. They dictate that like-for-like materials, products and techniques should be used to protect the integrity of buildings, both inside and out.
Eastbourne Town Hall was designed by architect William Tadman-Foulkes in 1880. It sits on a site once known as Stocks Bank; a nod to the stocks that once stood there.
Whilst Colbran & Wingrove date back over 55 years in the town, our Town Hall is 130 years old. As such, repairs are inevitable and important to ensure it stands tall for years to come.
We're very proud to be involved in protecting it and our thanks go to Peter Manly and his scaffolding team who will be playing a key part too.
