Glassy New Offices

These refurbished offices in Cornfield Terrace show how glass can be used to create a classy, contemporary commercial interior.

The Grade II listed premises were formerly used for retail and required building regulations to convert the old shop into bright, modern accommodation.

The design scheme called on glass as a key building material to divide the interior and create meeting and conference rooms.

It does so without taking up the space that partition walling demands and acts as an effective acoustic barrier. Glass maximises the flow of natural light of course, and helps create an open plan feel without the associated drawbacks.

Clever design in this project also saw the creation of fire resistant bookshelves. Built and installed by our team as part of the complete building works, it lines a rear corridor and dedicated fire escape route.

The architect, Armeet Panesal of London-based practice poroban.com, appointed Colbran & Wingrove in tandem with the client Matthew Gold & Co. The Claimant Human Rights law firm specialises in the protection of civil liberties and human rights and also has offices in London.

Colbran & Wingrove were appointed to manage the complete project, from gutting to remodelling and final decorating. We worked with subcontracted plumbing, heating, electrical, glass partitioning and flooring specialists. These included local firms; GM Monk Electrical, Mark Bishop Plumbing & Heating, Crown Carpets, Vinyl Design and Bay Joinery.
